Art, Territory & Dialogue

At Vitendo, we believe art can create meaningful bridges between people, cultures, and communities. Alongside supporting artists through fair trade and ethical collaboration, we are also developing cultural, community-based, and humanitarian initiatives connected to dignity, cultural heritage, environmental awareness, and alternative ways of inhabiting and understanding territory.

Our work connects initiatives and collaborators across Tanzania, Kenya, and Colombia through long-term partnerships with artists, grassroots organizations, researchers, and local communities. Through these collaborative processes, we seek to foster dialogue between artistic, local, ancestral, and academic forms of knowledge, while supporting cultural exchange, collective memory, and creative spaces that contribute to social, cultural, and ecological transitions.

Vitendo sees art not only as an aesthetic practice, but also as a tool for dialogue, cultural preservation, community empowerment, and the imagination of more just, sustainable, and humane futures.

In Colombia, Vitendo operates legally as a non-profit foundation focused on collaborative cultural and community-based initiatives. Its international commercial operations and ethical trade activities are supported by a U.S.-registered LLC, helping connect artists and initiatives from the Global South with broader international audiences and partnerships.

Together, they are dedicated to pushing boundaries and crafting extraordinary experiences.

Co-Founder

Amani Amon

Amani, known artistically as Peace, is a young Maasai artist born in 1998 in Arusha, Tanzania. His work is deeply rooted in his cultural identity and the everyday experiences of his community. Beyond his individual artistic path, Amani has taken on a leadership role in the collective organization of local artists, advocating for fairer conditions in creative work.

As a co-founder of Vitendo Art, he drives an initiative that seeks to dignify art as both a means of livelihood and a tool for social transformation. Together with other artists, he manages a small art market located in a public space temporarily provided by the city of Arusha, where local artists can sell their work directly. Amani firmly believes that artists must create and manage their own spaces not only to strengthen their economic autonomy, but also to reach broader markets beyond Arusha—reducing dependence on intermediaries who often keep the majority of profits from their work.

Co-Founder

Andrés Sepúlveda

Andrés Sepúlveda is a Colombian sociologist from the National University of Colombia with extensive experience working with grassroots communities and local organizations, particularly in Colombia and Tanzania, as well as in other countries.. His work bridges urban planning, social justice, and community-based development, with a strong commitment to inclusive and participatory processes.

He holds a Master's degree in Architecture and a Postgraduate Diploma in Regional Planning and Development from Los Andes University, as well as a Master's in Urban Management and Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam (IHS). He has also pursued postgraduate studies in Development Studies and Non-profit Management in the United Kingdom and Canada.

With professional experience spanning the public sector, academia, international cooperation, and civil society, Andrés has worked on issues such as informal settlements, migration, environmental justice, and the role of art in city-making. As a co-founder of Vitendo Art, he brings a strategic perspective grounded in community engagement, fair trade practices, and international collaboration. He currently forms part of the strategic team of the ESD Learning Alliance in Bogotá, an initiative of the Bartlett Development Planning Unit at University College London (UCL).
